Terms & Conditions:

1. This charging station may only be used for charging of electric vehicles which are properly licensed and certified by the HKSAR Government or its relevant agents.

2. Charging is only allowed for electric vehicles parked at the designated parking bay.

3. Users must fully comply with the instructions set out in this User Guide and such other instructions given by Smart Charge when operating this charging station.

4. Users shall indemnify all loss, damage, cost, expense, fine, claim, demand, liability and charge for injury or death, for damage to property or for other loss and damage suffered or incurred by any person or party, arising out of or in connection with any improper or unreasonable use of the charging system.

5. Users agree to be bound by this User Guide and such other instructions given by Smart Charge.

6. If case of any inconsistency, the English version of this User Guide shall prevail over its Chinese translation, which is provided for information purposes only.

Notes on Using Electric Vehicle Charging Station

To enjoy hassle-free and safe EV-charging service, please pay attention to the following notes.

Keep the charger clean and do not put any object or covering on top of the charger
Ensure your charging cable doesn’t pose a tripping hazard
Avoiding leaving the EV-charger activated without connecting the charging cable to
your EV
Ensure adequate space between your EV and the charger during charging
Never turn off the isolator
Do not use damaged or poor quality EV charging cables to charge your EV

By Mail

  1. Mail a crossed cheque payable to "Hong Kong Telecommunications (HKT) Limited" or "HKT" with the payment stub to GPO Box 11253, Hong Kong.
  2. Write your Account No. on the back of the cheque and send it at least 3 working days before the payment due date.
  3. Post-dated cheque will not be accepted.
  4. No receipt will be issued.

This bill is in respect of fees for services provided by Smart Charge (HK) Limited.
All enquiries or disputes concerning any bill must be made to Smart Charge (HK) Limited within one month of the relevant bill issue date. Otherwise, the bill will be deemed to be in order and accepted by the customer.

Q01.What is Smart Charge?
Smart Charge is a joint venture between HKT and CLP, and offers total solution for the charging of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in Hong Kong. Our one-stop service includes advice on site layout, plus equipment and installation recommendations, as well as after-sales service – all to save customers time and hassle.
Q02.What should I do if I am interested in having an EV charging network on my estate?
Please provide us with your address and go through a pre-registration process with no obligation. Smart Charge will then approach the relevant building management office (BMO) or incorporated owners committee (IOC) to explore the possibility of installing EV charging facilities within 8 to 10 weeks.
Q03.Can I install a private EV charger on my privately-owned parking lot?
Yes. If your building’s car park is already served by Smart Charge facilities, you could subscribe to one of our monthly plans according to your needs. Or, you could provide your address and go through a pre-registration process with no obligation. Smart Charge will then approach the relevant BMO or IOC to explore the possibility of installation. Please let us have your contact details and one of our sales representatives will be in touch shortly.
Q04.What kind of EVs does a Smart Charge EV charging station serve?
Our charging solution is applicable to certain EVs that are properly licensed and certified by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region or its agents.
Q05.How far can an EV travel on one charge?
Travel range of an electric vehicle varies depending on model and battery capacity. A few automakers claim their vehicles travel up to 300km on a single charge.
Q06.Can I install one EV charger to serve many cars?
Each service plan applies to just one registered EV license plate number used in the application.
Q07.I rent my parking space, so can I still install an EV charging solution?
An application can be made as long as the applicant is the registered owner of the installation address, or is authorized by the registered owner of the parking lot.
Q08.My parking lot is located outdoors, so can I install an EV charger?
We offer a variety of EV charging solutions suitable for different scenarios. A feasibility study will be carried out during an onsite visit by our engineers.
Q09.Do I need to reserve space to have a charging station installed? How much space will it need?
It will need enough space to accommodate an EV charging station on a private car parking lot. A feasibility study will be carried out during an onsite visit by our engineers.
Q10.Can I still install the service even if my parking lot does not offer sufficient space?
We offer a variety of EV charging solutions suitable for different scenarios. A feasibility study will be carried out during an onsite visit by our engineers.
Q11.Do I have to apply to my BMO/IOC before I can have an EV charging station installed?
Smart Charge normally works with a BMO/IOC when we receive an application. However, certain estates, or a BMO/IOC, may have special requirements that call for special co-operation from various parties.
Q12.What is the difference between Smart Charge and other EV charging operators?
Smart Charge aims to offer the highest EV charging standards from every perspective, such as safety, design, technology and after-sales service. Also:

  3. Customers are served by designated HKT shop (HKT Showcase) and service centers
  4. Regular maintenance is carried out to ensure EV chargers are working properly and to the highest safety standards (applicable to subscription plans)
Q01.Will charging stop automatically when a battery is full?
Yes. Follow the instructions to release the socket lock.
Q02.How long would it take for Smart Charge to install a charger for me?
It varies depending on complexity and the nature of your installation. Installation normally takes between 7 to 14 working days if Smart Charge is being rolled out on your estate. If not, installation time depends on negotiations between Smart Charge and the BMO/IOC involved.
Q03.Could another EV use my charging station without my permission?
Every user needs an individual Smart Charge Tap & Go card to make the facility work.
Q04.How do you ensure charging station safety?
The station complies with relevant safety standards and has been certified, while installation of electrical equipment follows EMSD guidelines. For example, a station is protected against current leakage and overload. And each charging station is thoroughly tested before going live.
Q05.What kind of plug is provided?
Smart Charge provides IEC Type2 charging sockets. Please use the standard plug and coupler provided with your EV.
Q06.Where is the EV charger manufactured?
The EV charger deployed by Smart Charge is supplied by international brands in France and Hong Kong, and most of the equipment is manufactured in China. All our EV chargers comply with relevant safety standards and are certified, while installation of electrical equipment follows EMSD guidelines. For example, a station is protected against current leakage and overload. And each charging station is thoroughly tested before going live.
Q07.Are the EV chargers waterproof?
All chargers comply with the International Protection Marking (IEC standard 60529) with IP54, which indicates that chargers are protected against dust (ingress of dust cannot be prevented entirely, but small amounts will not have negative impact on satisfactory operation of the equipment). The equipment is also protected against splashes of water.

Your Smart Charge Tap & Go card represents a unique key to registration. You can register for My Account by:
  • Visit the Smart Charge website (www.smartcharge.com.hk), clicking “My Account”, then “Registration”.
  • Download and install the Smart Charge app, then clicking “My Account”.
Q03.What should I do if I forget my password or login email address?

Q04.What should I do if I lost my Smart Charge Tap & Go card?
Please contact our customer service hotline on 2888 0088 (select language and press 2) to report a lost card and arrange replacement.
